Tablehurst Community Farm

Description

Tablehurst Community Farm is a social enterprise founded in the mid-1990s. The farm produces meat, poultry, vegetables, raw milk and arable crops to biodynamic and organic standards. We also make pies, pasties, sausage rolls, ready meals and our own yoghurt, all using produce from the farm. Most of Tablehurst’s produce is sold through the farm shop, which is open six days a week. The shop also offers an array of other organic produce including sourdough bread baked at Tablehurst, dairy products from our sister farm Plaw Hatch, local biodynamic eggs, and many other foodstuffs. We also now sell our meat online for home delivery nationwide.

The farm is open to the public and you are welcome to walk around. You can visit the animals, see the farmers and gardeners at work, and enjoy the spectacular Ashdown Forest scenery. Our café is open five days a week in summer and offers hot meals using farm produce, teas, coffees and farm-baked cakes. The farm hosts an extensive programme of community events and offers lots of opportunities for volunteers to get involved in our work.

We are a social enterprise, so making money isn't our aim. Our objectives are:

  • To be a biodynamic farm, caring for the environment, the land, the soil, the plants, the animals and everyone who works here

  • To produce nutritious food full of vitality, and supply it to local people

  • To build a supportive community, who feel connected to farming, to food, and to Tablehurst

  • To be an educator, explaining how we farm and why we think it is important

  • To inspire others to farm, by training farmers, and by supporting biodynamic initiatives
